Die in Send (England, Grafschaft Sussex) beheimatete Connaught Engineering etablierte sich nach dem 2. Weltkrieg als Hersteller von Rennwagen.

Zuerst ging es um Sportwagen kurz danach Formel 2-Wagen. 1954 wagten es Rodney Clarke, Mike Oliver, Kenneth McAlpine und das kleine Team, den ersten Formel 1-Wagen für die neue 2 1/2 Liter-Formel zu konstruieren.

Der Sieg beim 1955 Syracuse Grand Prix sorgte für großes Aufsehen! Es war der erste Sieg eines britischen Teams seit Henry Seagrave 1924 in San Sebastian gewonnen hatte.

In diesem Buch wird die ganze Geschichte geschildert. Bis zum bitteren Ende im Jahr 1957. Das Ende wurde durch die fehlende Unterstützung der britschen Industrie herbeigeführt. Trotzdem bestehen keine Zweifel daran, dass Connaught der erste Schritt dazu war, dass heute (2020) die britische Rennsport-Industrie überlegen ist.
